The Rudder

What I learned building the rudder:

Search the plans carefully for hidden notes and measurements.

Back riveting is difficult.  I will try to use the back riveter without the plastic guide next time.  Also, Van's suggested using a 3/32 rivet set ground down to almost being flat.

I will try to bend the leading edge in small sections next time rather than one whole side at a time.  This will hopefully reduce the bending over the spar and the amount of bleeding.

When installing the counterweight in the R-803 look to make sure the holes you will drill are not too near the existing tooling hole.   If so flip the weight the other way.  A wood screw can be ground down to make a good dimple die for the holes.

Using a 1/8" dowel to radius the trailing edge bend, as suggested in the video,  makes the edge bender work fine.  Finishing touches were made with the seaming pliers.
